The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of Rogue Area Senior Computer Assistance League was held on November 10, 2009 at the Josephine County Fairgrounds Floral Building, Grants Pass, Oregon. The following board members were present: President Ron Willing, Secretary Velma Gustafson, Treasurer Naomi Carlson, Education Director Judy Engel, and Membership Director, Maggie Robson. Members present were Audrey Williams, Vivian Dagnan, Laura Dunwald, and Arlie Smith. Secretary's Report: Velma Gustafson reported: The minutes of the October 2009 Board of Directors meeting were approved and placed on the RASCAL website Treasurer's Report: Naomi Carlson reported: We now have $23,748.62 in the bank. We can not expect any more interest than what we are receiving now due to the economy. We received a letter from Evergreen wanting a back up W9 form. I talked to her and called the IRS. People in the bank can not use the RASCAL initial. This was the problem. She will have to get with the bank and tell them to fix what they put on their form. Membership Director's Report: Maggie Robson handed out membership reports as of 10-31-09. She stated: We have 895 members and we have 10 new ones, 13 today. Education Director's Report: Judy Engel stated: We are going to be renaming some of the classes and switching some of the time frames that we have been using. People do not want to commit to 4 session classes, four weeks in a row. They are trying to consolidate some of the classes to make them a little bit shorter and more title specific. The e-mail and internet classes will be split into two separate classes. It will be e-mail based for two separate sessions and internet for two separate classes. If you are only interested in e-mail, for example, you only have to take that portion of the class. All thought this was a good idea. They also will be moving the internet class to the lab so people can actually go on the internet during class. That will be a positive thing. Mike States is teaching Vista Beginning. It will be changed to Vista Basics. It will be held in the lab for two three hour sessions. Tom Crittenden will only be here for March this year. He will be teaching 7 different classes in March only. Attendance is much better for shorter classes, so they will try this new procedure for awhile and see how it works. Classes such as Photo shop will not be shortened. The length of the classes will be the decision of the teacher involved. Gene Beaman will be teaching a Graphics Beginners class in April. Communications Director's Report: Galen was not present. Vice President's Report: Bob Booth not present. President's Report: Ron Willing stated: Remember to advise members about the Christmas luncheon tickets now on sale. The meeting was adjourned at 11:55 p.m.
