The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of Rogue Area Senior Computer Assistance League was held on October 13, 2009 at the Josephine County Fairgrounds Floral Building, Grants Pass, Oregon. The following board members were present: President Ron Willing, Secretary Velma Gustafson, Treasurer Naomi Carlson, Membership Director Maggie Robson, and Communications Director Galen Garretson. Members present were: Jane Frincke, Jeannette Daily, Vivian Dagnan, Shirley Byrd, and Laura Dunwald, and Audrey Williams. Secretary's Report: Velma Gustafson reported: The minutes of the September 2009 Board of Directors meeting were approved and placed on the RASCAL website. Velma requested a vote for the record on the amount of $10.00 each to be spent for each RASCAL volunteer gift, total of 82 volunteers to be presented at our annual business meeting. Also a vote for the amount we will pay to reimburse the members on the ticket price of our Christmas luncheon at the Wild River Pub this year. Last year our club paid part of the expense and the attending members were charged $10.00 per ticket. This year the Wild River Pub is charging $15.95 per person. The board voted to pay $5.95 of each meal. The tickets will be sold again this year for $10.00 each. Treasurer's Report: Naomi Carlson reported: We have $23,966.47 in checking and savings. A 17% increase over last year. The interest on our accounts is down from last year by $76.41 but we still have all the accounts. The $824.00 spent for Recognition Day will not show until next month. Cutting expense in the kitchen has saved $355.00 year to date. With the increase in postage and printing cost for the Newsletter, we are $14.00 ahead of last year due to members going on line for their newsletters. Overall, we are ahead of last year. Membership Director's Report: Maggie Robson reported: We have 893 individual RASCAL members; 34 new members. Education Director's Report: Judy Engel is in Europe. Communications Director's Report: Galen asked: If we choose to get the newsletter on line do we get an e-mail stating when it is coming out, and if not is there some way that we can do that? Answer; We don't know when Jenny will post it. This will be discussed at a later date. Also he brought up the item, Some people are getting a Smart Wire RASCAL deduction who are not RASCAL members. This was again discussed and it was determined that Smart Wire will handle the situation. Vice President's Report: Bob Booth was not present. President's Report: Ron Willing talked about the agenda for our business meeting to be presented next week. Everyone praised Jane Frincke for all of the work she has done on this project. We are all truly grateful. Social Director: Jeannette Daily asked How much she could be approved to spend on entertainment at our annual Christmas luncheon. The board voted that she could spend up to $100.00. She was instructed to submit a budget for the year and to keep within the guidelines. New Business Shirley Byrd noted that she will be going out of town soon and that Lannie Harkins will take over her duties during her absence. The meeting was adjourned at 12:01 p.m.
