RASCAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Minutes of Meeting on July 14, 2009

The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of Rogue Area Senior Computer Assistance League was held on July 14, 2009 at the Josephine County Fairgrounds Floral Building, Grants Pass, Oregon. The following board members were present: President Ron Willing, Secretary Velma Gustafson, Treasurer Naomi Carlson, Communications Director Galen Garretson, Membership Director, Maggie Robson, and Vice President Bob Booth. The following club members were present: Vivian Dagnan, Jeannette Daily, Shirley Byrd, Betty Buskirk, and Audrey Williams.

Secretary's Report: Velma Gustafson reported:

The minutes of the June 2009 Board of Directors meeting were approved and placed on the RASCAL website. Also, we need to appoint a meeting date and place for the August board meeting. This was discussed. Bob will ask Bill Porter if we can go to his house. We will be advised.

Treasurer's Report: Naomi Carlson reported:

We have $23,320.00 in the bank including our cd's, savings, and checking account. She has had to estimate Bulk Mailing's bill for the last two months as he is so slow sending statements.

She said, 'we really need two people now to do the treasurers job. Arly is there to help and doing a good job". Naomi is doing the Quick Book entries. financial statements, and collects bills. Arly makes payments, etcetera. This was discussed.

Ron mentioned how good we are doing this year, coffee, 50/50 and education.

Membership Director's Report: Maggie Robson reported:

Maggie Robson reported: We have 890 RASCAL members. There are 17 new members for last month and this month. And 18 renewed. We are down a little bit. We had over 900 members last month.

Education Director's Report: Judy Engel reported:

On July 2nd they had a meeting at The Business Development Center, between the teachers, the people who run the center, and the tech guys. They have been having some problems with equipment unplugged, etcetera. Students may bring their lap tops only if they plug their AC adapters into an empty receptacle on the power strip on the floor. Ron will install a switch for the instructors to connect to the overhead projector.

The registration will not be at 4th and H. Anyone coming in late will have to use the phone in the library to call and register at RCC if they have not registered with RASCAL. BDC prefer not to run copies for club presentations. They can be ordered at the main campus several days before the presentation.

Communications Director's Report: Galen reported:

It was a good meeting. There are some questions that he will pursue. We need a clear statement. This was discussed.

Vice President's Report: Bob Booth had nothing to report.

President's Report: Ron Willing reported:

We need a nominating committee, president and one board member, plus 2 members from general public. Shirley Byrd volunteered. He asked who would stay on the board. Judy said, "she would stay with Lou Garrotto helping her". Velma will stay. Naomi will stay with the help of Arly. Galen will stay in his position. Bob Booth is very busy and does not want to continue as VP next year. Ron also wants to be replaced.

Social Director's Report: Jeannette Daily reported:

She has been having trouble getting the Christmas luncheon booked up as they have replaced people and the one handling the arrangements is out of town. She is following up on this. Also, she made a suggestion about what we could give as volunteer appreciation gifts at our business meeting. All thought the gift was a good idea. Velma asked for an easel to display our RASCAL literature at special events. Ron offered to bring his to the picnic for our picnic display.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:10 p.m.

Respectfully submitted
Velma Gustafson, Secretary
